Whereas Canine Good Citizen tests are most often tested in a simulated environment at a training facility or in a ring. The 10-step AKC Community Canine test is conducted in real life situations, which can include walking through a crowd on a busy sidewalk or in a local park.

As with Canine Good Citizen, AKC Urban CGC has a 10-step test of skills that dogs must pass to earn the official AKC Urban CGC title, but it is administered in a place where there are cars, streets to be crossed, noises, and distractions.

With only ten tricks from the Novice list. If a dog has a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) then only 5 Novice tricks are required.

Your dog must have the Novice title, plus perform 10 Intermediate tricks.

Teaching tricks is not only a fun but also helps provide mental stimulation, promote confidence, and builds a stronger bond with owner and dog. At a minimum age of four months, a puppy or dog can earn any of the following titles recognized by the American Kennel Club:
Trick Dog Evaluations can be completed in person or virtually via video submission. Here’s how to do it virtually:
1. Print the Tricks Checklist/VVF for the applicable level(s)
2. Identify the tricks you will be performing.
3. Record a video of your dog performing the tricks. Note: A lure may be used for Novice level, but not in the other levels.
4. Submit payment of $20 per AKC Tricks Dog (Video) Evaluation via Venmo (see barcode below). [Cash and checks accepted for in-person evaluations]
5. Email your video(s) and Trick Checklist(s) to SpotNmyHeartDalmatians@gmail.com for review.
· A separate video should be submitted for each level you wish to have evaluated.
6. Once your video has been reviewed and approved, we will send you a signed copy of the Tricks Checklist/Video Verification Form
7. Lastly, to apply for the title, you will send the following to AKC:
· A copy of the completed Tricks Checklist/Video Verification Form received from the CGC Evaluator
· The Trick Dog Title Application, and the AKC Application fee
